The second day provided attendees with the opportunity to explore developments in digital projection and exhibition technology on location.
The day started with a visit to ARCADIA Cinema in Melzo near Milan. Italy’s first multiplex is recognized for its advanced facilities and long-standing commitment to technological innovation. Designed by architect Giancarlo Marzorati, the cinema’s development involved three-time Oscar-winning cinematographer Vittorio Storaro and THX Lucasfilm, founded by George Lucas. It was inaugurated on May 30, 1997, by Vice Premier and Minister of Cultural Heritage Walter Veltroni, with a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo in the special 70mm format. Over the years, ARCADIA has been at the forefront of technological advancements, being among the first in Italy—and Europe—to adopt digital projection in the early 2000s. It has since incorporated technologies such as 3D, High Frame Rate (HFR), and Dolby Atmos sound while maintaining the capability to project rare large-format 70mm and 35mm films.
During their visit, attendees experienced a demonstration at the ENERGIA PLF theater, which features a 30-meter-wide screen and a 630-seat capacity. The session illustrated the capabilities of premium large-format projection and its impact on cinematic presentation.

After the demonstration, participants traveled to Cinemeccanica’s headquarters in Settala, near Milan, to gain a closer look at the company’s operations. The visit offered an overview of Cinemeccanica’s role in the development of digital projection technology and its contributions to the cinema industry. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with industry experts and learn about ongoing research and development efforts in the field.
The day’s schedule also included a networking session over lunch at Silos Restaurant in Settala, providing a setting for attendees to discuss the insights gained throughout the event.
